- Prep the Surface: Clean your stairs thoroughly to remove any dust or oils. This ensures the premium double-sided tape adheres securely.
- Lay Out the Main Backbone: Run the main backbone cable down the side or underneath your staircase structure. Ensure the physical directional arrows on the cable point from the bottom to the top of the stairs.
- Mount the COB Strips: Carefully peel and stick your COB strips onto each stair step. Connect each step’s 20cm pre-soldered wire directly into the closest port on the main line.
- Install the Side Flow Strip (Optional): Adhere the flow strip along your staircase handrail. Crucial: Observe the directional arrow markers on the strip to align proper single-direction IC signals.
- Mount the Sensors: Position the top and bottom PIR sensors where they can easily capture foot traffic. Hook up the daylight sensor near an area with natural light access.
- Connect & Power Up: Wire the main cable and sensor inputs into the KLA-STEP-P3 Controller. Plug the controller into the DC 24V Transformer, and plug the transformer into your home's wall outlet. Configure your step quantity and speeds using the remote.
Troubleshooting Tips
- No Lights Turn On: Verify that the main line is not installed backwards. Check the directional arrows. Verify all connections from the transformer to the controller are tightly plugged in.
- Side Flow Strip Lights Up In Reverse: This strip is unidirectional. If the cascading water effect flows backwards, please swap the strip direction or check your pixel controller settings.
- One Step Fails to Light: Unplug the system power. Detach the module for that specific step on the main line and replace it with the included spare module. Re-power the system.
- PIR Sensors Not Triggering: Verify that the daylight sensor is not detecting excessive light. In high natural light conditions, the daylight sensor purposefully overrides motion activations to conserve power. You can adjust the sensor sensitivity or disable it entirely on the controller.
⚠️ Important Installation Notes
- Never Connect Directly to Mains Power: DO NOT connect the controller or individual LED strips directly to high-voltage AC 110V/220V power outlets. You must always run the system through the provided 24V transformer.
- Check Stairway Spacing First: The fixed spacing between the main line ports is 35cm. If the height/distance between your stairs exceeds 35cm, this system is not recommended unless you are comfortable cutting the main line and manually soldering 3-pin extension cables.
- Power Down During Assembly: Always complete all physical mounting and wire connections BEFORE plugging the transformer into mains power. Never add or remove strip connectors while the controller is live.
- Wireless Switch Override: When your system is switched into Wireless Wall Switch Mode, the lighting runs in a constant always-on state. During this time, the PIR motion and daylight sensors are temporarily disabled.
