MALIIGAZA STEP-PIXEL-01 is a motion sensor stair side flowing light controller designed for one continuous SPI LED strip installed along a staircase side or handrail. Dual PIR sensors automatically trigger directional flowing illumination from the bottom or top of the stairs.

Turn an Ordinary Staircase Into a Flowing Light Feature

Instead of lighting each stair tread independently, STEP-PIXEL-01 creates a smooth chasing effect along a continuous LED strip mounted beside the staircase or underneath a handrail.

Walk toward the stairs from below and the light flows upward. Approach from the upper floor and the illumination begins from the top and flows downward.

Available configurations include the controller-only option and LED strip configurations with selectable strip color, length and quantity. Please check the selected variant carefully before checkout.

1. Install the compatible SPI LED strip continuously along one side or both sides of the staircase or handrail.
2. Install one PIR motion sensor near the bottom of the staircase and the second PIR sensor near the top.
3. Connect the LED strip to the correct controller output port.
4. Connect the controller to a suitable DC power supply. The voltage of the LED strip and power supply must match.
5. Set the controller pixel number accurately according to the connected LED strip pixel quantity.
6. Adjust brightness, animation speed, delay time, lighting mode and daylight sensitivity according to your installation.

The strip does not illuminate correctly

Check that the power supply voltage matches the LED strip and controller configuration and verify the strip connection.

The animation stops too early or extends beyond the installed strip

Check the controller pixel setting. It must match the actual pixel quantity of the connected LED strip.

The stair light does not operate during the daytime

The daylight sensor may be preventing activation in bright conditions. Adjust its sensitivity or disable the daylight function if required.

The flowing direction is not what you expect

Check the top and bottom PIR sensor installation and the direction of the connected SPI LED strip.

Important Notes and Safety Warnings

1. Never connect the controller directly to AC 110V, AC 120V, AC 220V or AC 230V mains power.

The controller requires a suitable low-voltage DC power supply. Direct connection to mains voltage can immediately damage the controller.

2. Match the LED strip voltage and power supply voltage.

Do not use a 12V LED strip with a 24V power supply or any other mismatched voltage combination.

3. Check your strip option carefully before ordering.

Confirm strip color, length and quantity before checkout.

4. The LED strip lead wire is approximately 15cm.

If the controller is installed farther away, prepare a suitable extension cable between the LED strip and controller.

5. Set the pixel quantity accurately after installation.

Correct pixel configuration is required for precise sequential switch-on and switch-off control.

1. Is STEP-PIXEL-01 a stair tread lighting controller?

It is primarily designed for a continuous flowing LED strip installed along the side of a staircase or handrail rather than one separate strip on every stair tread.

2. How does the motion sensor stair flowing light work?

Two PIR sensors detect movement from the top or bottom. The controller then starts the flowing light in the corresponding direction.

3. Can the light flow upward and downward?

Yes. Bottom detection can trigger an upward flowing sequence, while top detection can trigger a downward sequence.

4. Does the controller support RGB LED strips?

Yes. STEP-PIXEL-01 supports compatible RGB SPI strips as well as compatible single-color SPI strips.

5. What SPI chip is used by the listed LED strips?

The listed single-color and RGB COB strip specifications use WS2811 IC control.

6. What is the maximum number of pixels supported?

The controller supports up to 512 pixels.

7. Can I connect two LED strips?

The controller provides two LED strip output ports for compatible installation configurations.

8. Is the STEP-PIXEL-01 waterproof?

No. This product is specified for indoor staircase lighting and is not waterproof.

9. Can I adjust the brightness and animation speed?

Yes. Brightness, animation speed, delay time and lighting modes can be adjusted.

10. How many lighting modes are available?

The controller includes 12 selectable lighting modes.

11. What does the daylight sensor do?

When enabled, the daylight sensor can prevent unnecessary activation in bright conditions. Its sensitivity can be adjusted or the function can be disabled.

12. Can the LED strip be cut?

Yes, at the specified cut points. The listed single-color strip cuts every 83.3mm, 3m/5m RGB strip every 62.5mm and 10m RGB strip every 50mm.

13. What power supply should I use?

Use a suitable DC power supply with voltage matching the connected LED strip. The listed LED strip configurations operate at DC 24V.

14. Why is setting the correct pixel number important?

The controller needs the correct pixel quantity to determine the exact start and end points of the flowing animation.

15. Can STEP-PIXEL-01 work together with stair tread lights?

Yes. It can be combined with MALIIGAZA STEP-07, STEP-09 or STEP-P5 systems to build a tread-light plus side-flowing-light staircase installation.
