LED Lighting FAQs

These answers cover common planning and support questions. Product specifications, included parts and compatibility can vary by model, so please check the relevant product page and documentation before ordering or installing.

COB LED Strips

What is a COB LED strip?

COB LED strips use a high-density light-emitting surface to create a continuous, dot-free appearance. They are commonly used for cabinet lighting, ceilings, furniture details, stairs and decorative lighting.

Should I choose 12V or 24V?

Both the LED strip and power supply must use the same DC voltage. A 24V option can be useful for longer runs because it generally helps reduce voltage drop, but the correct choice depends on the specific product, planned length and installation. Check the product page before purchase.

Can I cut an LED strip?

Many LED strips can be cut only at their marked cut points. The available cut interval differs by model. Do not cut a strip until you have checked that model's product documentation and measured the installation path.

Stair Lighting

How does motion-activated stair lighting work?

Compatible systems use sensors and a controller to respond to movement, then activate the connected stair lights according to the selected model and settings. Features such as step-by-step effects, daylight sensing, remote control, app control and side lighting vary by model.

How do I choose a stair-lighting system?

Start with the number of steps, desired lighting effect, wiring route, control preference and whether you need only tread lighting or a combined tread-and-side-light solution. Measure platforms and irregular steps separately, and confirm that the chosen model supports your planned layout.

Controllers and Power Supplies

Do I need a controller?

A controller is used when you need functions such as dimming, colour-temperature adjustment, colour effects, remote control, app control or sensor-based automation. PWM and SPI addressable lighting use different controller types, so confirm compatibility before ordering.

How do I select a power supply?

Match the power supply's DC output voltage to the connected lighting product and verify that its power capacity suits the complete planned load. Installation environment, cable length, ventilation and local electrical requirements also matter. Consult the relevant documentation and a qualified local professional when needed.

Compatibility and Installation

Are all LED strips, controllers and power supplies interchangeable?

No. Voltage, control protocol, channel configuration, connectors, current requirements and intended environment must be compatible. Choose the light source first, then match the controller, power supply and accessories to the actual model.

Do stair-lighting kits include aluminium profiles?

MALIIGAZA stair-lighting kits do not include aluminium profiles. COB lighting already provides a continuous, dot-free appearance. Profiles may be considered as an optional third-party finishing choice for a specific installation, but they are not a default kit component or a requirement for COB light uniformity.
